What people say afterwards.
A worked example of a tree service reviews page for the Comox Valley — the layout, the attribution, and the deliberate absence of a star rating.
Testimonials
Written samples · not real customer reviews
Every testimonial below is invented, and the people do not exist. On a real build they are pulled verbatim from the client’s Google Business Profile — typos included, never edited, excerpted only at paragraph boundaries — and each one links back to its source so a reader can verify the quote. You will also notice there is no star rating and no review count anywhere on this site. That is deliberate and it is explained at the bottom of this page.
“Two firs over the garage, one of them leaning after the December wind. They roped every piece down rather than dropping anything, and the crew spent the last hour raking. My neighbour came over to ask who they were.”
Alison W., Courtenay
Tree removal · Last winter“I fully expected to be told the maple had to come out. Instead I got a walk around the base, an explanation of what the bracket fungus actually meant, and a recommendation to reduce one limb and look again in two years. Saved me about four thousand dollars.”
Devon M., Comox
Danger tree assessment · This spring“Narrow gate, sloped yard, and they still got the grinder in. Ground deep enough that we could turf straight over it.”
Rhea S., Cumberland
Stump grinding · Two months ago“Called at six in the morning with a cedar across the driveway and a car underneath it. Answered on the second ring, gave me a number on the phone, and were there before nine. The number on the invoice was the number on the phone.”
Grant T., Royston
Emergency and storm work · Last winter“We needed a report for a permit application and had already had one rejected. Theirs went through first time. They also caught that one of the trees we assumed was ours sits on the boundary, which would have been an expensive thing to find out later.”
Maya P., Courtenay
Arborist reports · This year“Asked them to top a big fir. Got a patient explanation of why they would not, and a crown reduction instead. It looks like a tree rather than a hat stand and it is noticeably quieter in the wind.”
Stephen K., Comox
Tree pruning · Last summer“Three cedars going brown at the top. She walked me through what drought stress actually does, told me two would probably hold and one was finished, and set up a watering plan. No treatment upsell, which I was braced for.”
Nadia F., Union Bay
Tree health care · This spring“Cleared the building envelope and did the fire-smart spacing at the same time. What I appreciated was the walk-over first, marking what was staying. The ones they left are the right ones.”
Colin B., Merville
Lot clearing · Last year“Thirty metres of cedar hedge that had not been touched in four years. They showed me on the hedge itself how far back they could cut before it would not come back, then cut to exactly that. Straight as a rule.”
Ji-woo L., Courtenay
Hedge trimming · Two months ago“Quoted, invoiced and finished at the same number. Insurance and WorkSafeBC paperwork sent through before I asked for it.”
Bettina R., Black Creek
Tree removal · This year“Ferry, gravel drive, and a fir with about two metres of clearance on either side. They planned the whole thing on the phone first and it went exactly the way they said it would.”
Owen H., Denman Island
Tree removal · Last year“A limb came through the conservatory roof in the night. They made it safe first, took photographs for the insurer without me asking, and came back the following week for the rest. Calm people to have in the yard on a bad morning.”
Fern D., Comox
Emergency and storm work · Last winter
A note from the studio
Why there are no stars on this page.
Star ratings in search results come from Review and AggregateRating structured data, and there is a strong temptation to add it to any reviews page.
On a site like this one it would be fabricated data about a company that does not exist, which is the single thing here that could do real damage if it ever escaped the noindex.
On a real client’s site the answer is the same for a different reason. Google’s review-snippet policy requires review content to be produced by the publishing site — republishing reviews collected on Google or a directory under your own markup is the self-serving pattern that earns a manual action. The right approach is to display them, attribute them, and link to the source.
An agency that puts rating schema on borrowed reviews is borrowing the client’s risk, not managing it.

Most quotes start with one picture and a postcode. We will tell you on the phone whether it is a job, a permit question, or something you can leave alone.
